FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Dress however you like, although casual attire is best for an outing on the water. We also recommend boat shoes, sneakers, or sandals with non-marking soles and a bathing suit and towel if you’d like to go for a swim. Bring along a light sweater, sweatshirt, or jacket as well, since it’s about 10 degrees cooler out on the water.

The U.S. Coast Guard has issued us a Coastwise, Recreational license, which allows a maximum total of 6 passengers, including children of all ages. Captain and crew are in addition to 6 passengers.

Small pets are OK, with prior notification appreciated.

This always depends upon our scheduling and is subject to additional hourly charge.

Basic First Aid supplies are aboard the boat, we coordinate with appropriate shoreside authorities for medical emergency support; and, have radio contact with the U.S. Coast Guard while underway.

The marine environment is tough on equipment. Every boat, old or new, has the potential for a mechanical breakdown. While we do not expect breakdowns, planning is vital, so we carry aboard Seabird:

  • S. Coast Guard required and recommended safety equipment, including personal flotation devices (PFDs, aka life jackets), radio communication equipment, and visual distress signals—along with redundant key equipment.
  • Anchor and sufficient anchor line to secure the boat if a breakdown occurs—many breakdowns can be repaired at anchor.
  • Active membership in Sea Tow (the marine equivalent of AAA for vehicles)—providing an emergency tow to shore or home port in the event of a breakdown.

We want you to understand the provisions we’ve built into Seabird operations to keep you and your guests safe at all times. The Seabird is looked after by the most highly qualified marine mechanics on the Shoreline, and undergoes routine, scheduled preventive maintenance.

If you cancel due to a change in plans with 48 hours or more notice, Seabird Cruises will refund your payment in full. If cancellation is made within 48 hours, a 20% handling fee will apply. If you reschedule, we waive the handling fee.

If weather conditions (including rough seas in clear weather) require your cruise to be cancelled, we encourage rescheduling, but if that isn’t possible, you will receive a full refund with no handling fee charged. In the event of inclement weather, the Captain has the final decision on whether to launch.
